WHY NURSES ARE NOT GETTING MARRIED

Image
WHY OUR NURSES ARE NOT GETTING MARRIED Written by Counselor Adofoli    On my way to a Television’s morning show, I was trying to find out what was being discussed on the radio and I came across an interesting discussion; Single nurses were complaining that the men are not proposing marriage to them, so the presenter sought to ask the public why the men were not approaching the nurses. These were some of the interesting responses from men; some cited disrespect, others talked about character and how they maltreated patients at the hospital whilst some are of the view that they like money and are not submissive. It’s really hard to speak for all nurses but one thing I can confirm as a Counselor is that, nurses are one the professionals who have lots of issues in relationships. From those who visit my office, to those who call and send messages, nurses form a large part. This message is not to paint the nurses black or bad, but to help them. Growing up, I wanted to marry a ...

MAJOR CAUSES OF MISCARRIAGE

Image
Rhesus factor incompatibility , a leading cause of miscarriage! Rhesus Factor is an antigen that exists on the surface of red blood cells in most people (about 85% of humans). It is also referred to as Rh Factor. People who have the Rh have “positive” (+) blood types, such as A+, O+ or B+ are said to be rhesus Factor positive,  while those who  have the Rh  “negative” (-) blood types, such as A–, O– or AB– are said to be rhesus factor negative . The “+” and “-” in front of the blood group is the Rhesus factor. Generally, we have A+, A–, B+, B–, AB+, AB–, O+ and O–. Rhesus factor is genetic in nature. It is inherited from the parents, emphatically the father. How does Rhesus Factor cause miscarriage? If a Rh– woman is impregnated by a man with Rh–, there wouldn’t be any problem. However, if a Rh– woman is impregnated by a man with Rh+, there would be a prob...

HEALTH MINISTER WARNED- DO NOT IMPOSE HOSPITAL DIRECTOR ON ANKAFUL NURSES

Image
Coalition of Concerned Nurses and Midwives have been following with keen interest the simmering issues in Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital regarding the petition by the Psychiatric Nurses Group to the honourable minster of health to remove the hospital Director of Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital in the person of Dr Eugene Dordoye for his continuous abuse and disregard for nurses and staff human rights, conflict of interest, mismanagement of hospital resources among others. Coalition of Concerned Nurses and Midwives did independent investigations at the hospital to have a firm grip of the issues and to confirm the content of the petition. We gathered that countless attempts by the leaders of the Psychiatric Nurses Group through management to have the issues resolved yielded no results as the Director paid no heed to such windows. Coalition of Concerned Nurses and Midwives is aware that the Mental Health Authority set up a five member Facts Finding Committee to investigate the issues in th...

REMOVE DR. EUGENE DORDOYE - Psychiatric Nurses Threatened HD

Image
This is a very crucial moment for the staff of Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital, especially the nursing staff. The ambience in this hall alone conveys a strong message beyond reasonable doubt that all is not well here in Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital. The Psychiatric Nurses’ Group is a specialized group of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association; purposed to advance the interest and protect the welfare of psychiatric nurses, midwives and other category of nurses working within the entire spectrum of mental health facilities across the country. In our quest to liberate the staff from oppressor’ rule and promote mental health care in Ghana. It is important to briefly recount the genesis of this near-industrial uproar that is about to hit Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital. We fear it may swipe and mar the good name that Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital has earned over the years and its vision to become the center of excellence in mental healthcare in the sub region. It is...

African Nurse Sacked For Preaching About Jesus In UK

Image
A nurse who gave a patient a bible she did not want and spoke about religion with patients has said she will fight her dismissal. Sister Sarah Kuteh received repeated warnings over the ‘unwanted discussions’ at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford, Kent, but continued to talk about religion with people. She said that she approached the subject as part of her job because she helped people fill out questionnaires that included a question about religion. However, she went a step further and some people accused her of ‘preaching’ at them so she was fired for breaching guidelines. Now, with the help of the Christian Legal Centre, she is taking Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust to tribunal for unfair dismissal. But one patient complained that she was given a Bible that she didn’t want while another said that Mrs Kuteh was ‘preaching’ at her. Mrs Kuteh believes her sacking from Darent Valley hospital in Dartford, Kent, was ‘disproportionate an...

The Best Way To Give A Good Breastfeeding .

Image
The best way to give a good breastfeeding  to the newborn . Breastfeeding is the best feeding. But if you want to be able to have a good supply of breastmilk, fewer breast problems, a satisfied, happy and well-nourished baby, plus the benefit of being able to nurse your baby for long, then a right beginning to breastfeeding is important. Here is how you can have a good start to breastfeeding: 1. Avoid medicated or assisted birth: Try to have a natural birth as much as possible. If you have a C-section, it will delay the first breastfeeding. Due to the medications used in C-section, and the incisions you have, there will be a problem with proper latching on. The drugs might induce sleepiness and there will be an overall delay in the onset of breast milk production. If a c-section is necessary due to a medical emergency, you might not be able to avoid it. But try to have a natural birth because you can heal sooner and begin breastfeeding immediately after birth. 2. Immediate...
